I am currently in the process of adopting a child (or two) from China with Snow Monkey. We are also the proud humans of a sweet and loving golden retriever named Zdog. As a practicing Buddhist with Quaker roots, I have come to realize that getting through the adoption process with my sanity intact will require me to put my buddhism into practice (i.e., being in the present moment, riding with uncertainty, etc.). Getting through the process will also require me to eat lots of chocolate, but that is another story.
